petMD Symptom Checker App Reviews

Bugs

Would be great if it actually worked.

Not enough symptoms

Only gives you a few options for symptoms your dog may be experiencing.

Pretty useless

I was wondering why my dog had some slight discharge from his eye, thank god this app let me know he was bitten by a Mexican lizard. Now I need to figure our when he was visiting Mexico without me!

So far So Good

We just accessed this app for the first time. Ease of use is simple. Although not a substitute for our fantastic Vet Clinic, it helps me be prepared for our visit. Or in an Emergency peace of mind and what is important to note prior to arrival. A thought, on search results one of the most common infections in the intestine, Clostridial Enterotoxicosis in Dogs, was not listed at the top of search results. Had to scroll down quite a bit.

Not what I expected

I was hoping for an app similar to web m.d. but this not like it at all. Rather than give you descriptions of conditions, or conditions based on symptoms, you are given a list of articles to look though to determine what may apply. Not what I was expecting or hoping for.

Pitiful

My dog had swelling eye lids and lips. Nowhere did this stupid app give me the choice of choosing both of these. Useless!!!

Its ok

This app has a lot of info but dose not have every medical possibility for the symptoms you check off . Also I wish when you clicked on the diagnosis it would go into detail about the symptoms related to illness ... It could use a search button to type in what you think is wrong with your pet so you can cross reference the symptoms without reading through a list of horrible possibilities.

Good but..

It would be nice if we could type in symptoms that are not listed in the options. For example, my dog has been sounding hoarse for about a week and a half & I couldnt find this symptom anywhere..?

Needs improvement

While the apps concept is to serve a good purpose, it isnt very accurate and doesnt list all the possibilities. This app is not replace your vet by any means but to give you an idea of what to expect when getting ready for a visit or whether you should go. The database of illnesses needs expanding.

Good

Its a good app but I wish I could type in the problem my pet is having. At this time my cat seems to have a fever and has no energy. I wanted to know what may cause this. But I do like the app.

What correlation...?

Select symptoms and get fed articles that appear to have little relationship to them. Poor appetite and lethargy brought multiple results related to a very specific heart affliction and no other.

Really?

This app answers no questions. I put in vomiting and it gives me all serious things. My dog ended up having roundworm not cancer. Big difference. Delete this app.

Doesnt work

This app kept freezing before I could even select symptoms.

Not worth your time

You can only look up one vague symptom at a time. I want to put in all symptoms to get a better assessment. Needs improvements. Deleted the app immediately.

Update

Needs more results and an option to choose from more than one category

This app did not meet expectations

This app pretty much sucked. I was looking up vomiting as a symptom for my cat and I was hoping it would ask me questions about the type of vomit, etc. No. Instead I had to select a relevant article that was not related to my female cat - disorders in kittens, disorders in MALE cats, etc.

Terrible app

The overall layout of the app is very cool, but it is way too general about symptoms, but at the same time narrow in its search abilities to really work for the many illnesses your pet can catch.

Same as webmd

Not the most accurate but the complaints make sense with the conditions. My cat had eosinophilic granuloma complex and it wasnt on here but this isnt really a diagnostic tool, just something to look into.

Not accurate

I clicked bad breath first thing that came up dog bad breath cancer. I clicked limp comes up bone cancer lol not helpfull

Not Helpful...pretty disappointed in app :(

In DOGS Everything went to either heart blockage or cancer when given poor appetite and lethargy. Mostly intended to scare you to the vet to spend $600 to run blood tests.
